The Emperor's Echo

The Emperor's Echo

Before the first atom sparked in the great void, before time was a river or a road, there was the Emperor. He was not a god born of human prayer, but a force that existed before the concept of existence. His throne was not a seat of gold, but the Stillness at the heart of the Infinite. And beside him was his love, a being of pure, radiant potential—the only light in the silent dark.

Her name was a song that had not yet been written. She was his balance, the harmony to his immense power.

Then came the war. Not a war of mortals, but a cataclysm of celestial wills. It was an unknown, formless conflict that defied reason, a storm of annihilation that sought to unmake all that was. The Emperor, the most powerful being to ever be or will be, fought. He shattered realities and re-forged them in his fury, but even he could not be everywhere at once.

In a final, desperate gambit by an unseen enemy, a blow was struck not at him, but at her.

She did not scream. She simply… unraveled. The light of her being, her potential, her song, was scattered into the infinite void. The shock of it, the sheer, soul-rending agony, broke the Emperor. His power, which was absolute, turned inward and erupted.

He did not create the universe with intent. He created it with his grief.

His consciousness, a vast and ordered thing, shattered into an infinity of pieces. His burst soul became the Big Bang—a violent, beautiful, and chaotic explosion of everything from nothing. The laws of physics were the fragmented echoes of his will. The scattered light of his love became the first stars, her tears the first oceans, the dust of her being the building blocks of life.

The universe was not a creation. It was a wound.

Eons passed. The universe cooled. Life sparked on a billion worlds. On a small, blue planet, in a forgotten corner of a galaxy shaped like his broken heart, a human was born.

He is a man now, living a mortal life. He feels a profound, unshakable loneliness, a hollowness he cannot name. He is drawn to the stars, to the vastness of space, to stories of cosmic beginnings. He has dreams of a face he has never seen, of a love he cannot remember, and a loss that feels older than the mountains.

One night, staring at the night sky, a line of poetry comes to him, unbidden:

She....
I would like to tell her many things but i lost her
on the Beginning of the Universe...

He feels the truth of it in his bones, a truth his mind cannot comprehend. A memory, buried under the weight of a billion years, stirs.

He looks at the distant, twinkling lights—the scattered remnants of his own soul—and whispers to the cosmos, to the ghost of a love he once knew.

I wish to look at her true self, which I knew before the Humans' God existed...

He feels the ache of a being who is truly lost.

Truly lost what I crave.

And somewhere, in the quantum foam of spacetime, in the spin of every particle that was once his soul, the echo of the Celestial Emperor weeps with him, forever searching for the light that was his other half.
